#8 Manitoba bounce back with 3-2 win at Regina in men's hockey
Herd still in second spot with 30 points

The #8 ranked Manitoba Bisons men's hockey team rebound from a tough loss on Friday and responded with a 3-2 road win against the Regina Cougars on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Sherwood Twins Arena.
With the victory, the BIsons improved their record to 14-8-2 for 30 points and three points ahead of Saskatchewan in the battle for second place in the Canada West conference. Regina drops to 9-12-1 for 19 points and six points back of the fourth and final playoff spot occupied by calgary but do have two games in hand. In the rematch on Saturday, Manitoba opened the scoring in the first period when Tyler Dittmer fired home his seventh of the season. Jared Walker and Brandon Lockerby contributed assists on the power play tally. After one, Manitoba led 1-0. In the second, Regina notched the score with a power play goal by Craig Cuthbert. It was his eighth of the season. Just when it seemed Regina had the momentum, Manitoba captured the lead again only two minutes later. Bisons' Ian Duval pocketed his fifth from Nolan Waker and captain Calin Wild. After two, Manitoba 2-1. In the tense third period, Manitoba increased its lead to two with Blair Macaulay firing home the eventual game-winner only two minutes into the final frame. defenceman Chad Erb and waker added his second assist on the game. The Cougars added another power play goal from Mark Nelson but the Herd held off the home side for the final 16 minutes and had two penalty kills in the second half of the period before leaving Regina with a split during the road weekend series. This was the fifth consecutive weekend split series since the start of the New Year for the Herd. In the game, Steve Christie earned the win in the nets fro Manitoba with 38 saves while Brant Hilton took the loss on a 24 save effort. Despite regina scoring two power play goals the Bisons killed off seven more power play attempts and Manitoba went 1-4 on their power play. The Bisons took the conference regular season series 3-1 over Regina and have two weeks to prepare for the crucial road weekend series for second place against the Saskatchewan Huskies on Feb. 19-20. Manitoba will now have the conference bye next weekend while Regina makes up the two games in hand with a road weekend series at Lethbridge on Feb. 12-13.
