Men's Basketball

Bison basketball teams host Victoria on January 9-10 weekend at the Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of M campus)

On Fri., women will start at 6 p.m. CT; men at 8 p.m. CT and on Sat. at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Manitoba Bisons basketball teams starts the second half of the 2014-15 conference season by hosting the Victoria Vikes on Friday, January 9 and then Saturday, January 10 at the Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of Manitoba campus). On Friday, the women's game will be at 6 p.m. CT and the men's game is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT while on Saturday, women's start at 5 p.m. CT and men's at 7 p.m. CT.

The Bison men's basketball team (8-2) is riding a six game winning streak at home this season and has not lost once at IGAC during conference play so far. The Herd is second in the Pioneer Division and one win back of first place Calgary. Victoria is sixth ranked in the country and third place at 6-2 and on a two game winning streak.

In this conference men's basketball season, the Bisons are first in scoring offence at 85.4 points per game and tenth in scoring defence at 75.5 points per game. In Canada West free throw attempts, Manitoba is third with 170 while ninth in 3-point percentage at 31.5%. In overall rebounding, the Bisons are first at 48.3 per game plus tied for first in defensive rebounding at 32.1 per game. The Herd also ninth in field goal shooting at 42.6%, fourth with 15.4 assists per game and second in steals per game at 9.6. A.J. Basi leads the team and sixth in Canada West scoring at 18.3 points per game while Wyatt Anders is second in conference rebounds per game at 11.5. Jonathan Alexander is 12th in field goal shooting at 52.0%.

The Bison women's basketball team (1-9) look to build off their first win of the season at the end of the first half as they host Victoria (2-6) during the weekend. 

In this conference women's basketball season, the Bisons are 17th in scoring offence at 54.9 points per game and 13th in scoring defence at 69.5 points per game. In Canada West field goals made, the Bisons are ninth at 208 and tied for third in 3-point shots made at 51. In offence rebounds, the Herd sit tied for 13th at 10.9 per game. Manitoba is ninth in steals at 9.6 per game and tied for 11th in blocks per game at 1.9. Robyn Eyer leads the squad and tied for 18th in Canada West scoring at 13.3 points per game. Sheree Carmona-Galdamez is tied for seventh in free throw percentage at 80.0%.
