On day two of the 2017 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships at University of Alberta In Edmonton from March 9-11, the Manitoba Bisons had four Top 8 individual results.
Highlights for Manitoba on day two includes fourth year Alhaji Mansaray earning a gold medal with a first place in the men's high jump with a jump of 2.10m. This is his fourth U SPORTS medal in his Bison four year career (1st in high jump in 2017; 2nd in high jump in 2015 and 2016; 3rd in high jump in 2013).
In addition, the Bison men's 4x800m relay team (Josh Dyck, Conrad Drover, Matthew Van Schepdael, Simon Berube) was also sixth place in a time of 7:43.05. Also on day two, third year Brooke-Lynn Boyd was seventh in the women's shot put (13.20m) while fourth year Sasanie Wanigasekara was seventh in the women's long jump (5.61m) and second year Sidiki Sow was eighth in men's high jump (1.93m).
Manitoba is currently 13th in women's team standing (seven points) and ninth place for the men's team (14 pts.). There are 20 Bison athletes (12 men and eight women) at the 2017 U SPORTS T&F Championships. The Bisons are currently ranked sixth for men's team and ninth for women's team in latest U SPORTS Top 10 poll (Mar. 7/17).
