On Thursday, the CFL Scouting Bureau released its first edition of the top-20 ranked prospects eligible for the 2019 draft. Manitoba had one player represented, as running back/returner
Jamel Lyles was listed at number 16.
Lyles has accumulated 3,042 all-purpose yards in his two seasons with the Bisons (2015, 2017), demonstrating his versatility not only as a rusher and pass-catcher, but also a kick and punt returner. Last year, the Surrey, BC native finished in the top four in every major statistical category for rushing, while averaging 172 all-purpose yards per game – good for second in the conference.
The 2015 Canada West Rookie of the Year and U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian kick returner also boosted his stock at this year's Valero East West Bowl, scoring the game-winning touchdown for Team West.
The Scouting Bureau releases its rankings three times per year, and is comprised of CFL scouts, player personnel directors and general managers from the league's nine teams.
