The Manitoba Football Hall of Fame\'s Class of 2012 includes the 1969 and 1970 University of Manitoba Bisons Vanier Cup Championship teams

In addition, former Bison players and coaches are part of 2012 Hall of Fame class

The Manitoba Football Hall of Fame\'s Class of 2012 includes eight coaches, seven players, three Builders, two Officials, a Media Member, and is highlighted by the induction of the 1969 and 1970 University of Manitoba Bisons Vanier Cup Championship teams. 

The University of Manitoba Bisons are one of only three CIS teams to win the National Championship (Vanier Cup) in back-to-back seasons. Head coach Henry Janzen and his staff coaches; Ray Ash, Gord Rowland and John Shanski was in charge of the first football dynasty at the Canadian university level. The Bisons became the first team to win two consecutive Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (now CIS) Vanier Cups championships.

In 1969 season, the Bisons spotted the University of Windsor Lancers seven points, before handing out a 41-7 thrashing in the Western Bowl. Then the Bisons won the Vanier Cup 24-15 over the McGill University Redmen, to cap a perfect 8-0 season. In 1970, the Bisons met a tough test hosting the Western Bowl against Queen\'s Golden Gaels. The Herd scored a 24-20 come-from-behind overtime victory. The Bisons went on to hammer Ottawa Gee-Gees 38-11 in the 1970 Vanier Cup.

All members of the 1969 team received the Order of the Buffalo Hunt for their achievement; Bob Kraemer (1969) Player of the Game; Mike Shylo (1970) Player of the Game; Bob Kraemer, Walt McKee & Bob Toogood went on to play professional football for the CFL (Winnipeg Blue Bombers)

In addition, the 2012 Hall of Fame inducted players with Manitoba Bisons connection include - Al Kinley: Manitoba Bisons from 1967-70, offensive line, three time all-star, 3 WCIAA championships (68, 69,70), two Vanier Cup Championships (69, 70) and team captain (70); Mike Shylo: Starting fullback in 1962-62 and leading rusher in second year, third year in 1967 as first-string running back and honourable mention in that year, finished career with Bisons in 1969-70 when team won back-to-back championship and first string running back for both years and was a league all-star in 1970, leading rusher in the 1969 Vanier Cup game and also was the leading rusher in the 1970 Vanier Cup game and was the MVP of the Vanier Cup game; Bob Toogood: Manitoba Bisons from 1969-73, linebacker, two Vanier Cup Championships (69, 70) and All-Canadian (73); Bob (Bo) Keating: Manitoba Bisons from 1969-71, offensive lineman, two Vanier Cup Championships (69, 70) and league all star (70); Bob Kraemer: Manitoba Bisons from 1968-70, quarterback, two Vanier Cup Championships (69, 70) and record as a starting quarterback is 24 wins and only 3 losses, including 5-1 in the playoffs, and won the Western Bowl all three years.

The 2012 Hall of Fame inducted coaches with Manitoba Bisons history include - Graham Kinley: Manitoba Bisons from 1982-86, offensive coordinator; Nick Laping: Manitoba Bisons from 1974-83, offensive coordinator; Henry Janzen: Manitoba Bisons from 1967-73, head coach and part of two Vanier Cup Championships (69, 70); Gill Bramwell: Manitoba Bisons from 1974-76, 1979-89, assistant coach/linebacker coach and defensive coordinator.
