Calgary – The Manitoba Bisons (2-3-0) lost a close one today to the Mount Royal Cougars (1-4-0) bye a score of 3-2.  Cody Cartier, Justin Kirsch, Tyler Jewitt scored for the Cougars while Dane Crowley and Jesse Paradis added goals for the Bisons. Bisons earn road split during weekend series as they won 1-0 on Friday.

In the beginning this contest mirrored last night's defensive battle as neither team could break through in the first period. A fairly uneventful first saw only one boarding call on Eskesen of the Cougars and the Bisons could not convert on the power play. After one the score was 0-0.

After the Cougars got into penalty trouble and faced an extended power play, Manitoba broke the deadlock. Jesse Paradis scored at 13:13 of the second period to give the Bisons a 1-0 lead. The Cougars came right back as Cody Cartier buried one from Kirsch and Evans-Renaud at 16:47. After two the Bisons and Cougars were tied at 1.

Early in the third the Cougars took the lead as the Cartier and Kirsch combination was at it again. 27 seconds into the third it was Kirsch's turn to light the lamp and he put home a goal on the dish from Cartier. The Cougars weren't done yet as a beautiful tic-tac-toe passing play from Brown to Ganonn was finished by Tyler Jewitt. Bison defenceman Dance Crowley added a late goal to close the score but that was as close ast the visitors were in this game and the Cougars prevailed 3-2.

The win drops Manitoba to 2-4-0 while the Cougars improve to 2-4-0.

The Bisons will return home next Friday, October 25 night where they will host the University of Calgary in a weekend series at the Wayne Fleming Arena.

The Cougars will also continue their long home stand as they will host the University of Regina Cougars on Friday night at the Flames Community Arenas.
