Bison men’s hockey team completes first half of 2013-14 season by playing at #1 Alberta on Nov. 29-30

Manitoba has four game winning streak; 6-7-1 conference record heading into weekend

The Manitoba Bisons men's hockey team (6-7-1) completes the first half of the 2013-14 season on the road and looks to continue their winning ways as they head into the weekend action on a four game winning streak, They play at #1 ranked Alberta Golden Bears (13-0-1) on November 29-30 weekend with puck drop at 8 p.m. CT on Friday and 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. 

Manitoba has a 3-3-0 record so far this season on the road and looks to even the season series with Alberta as the were swept at home (L 5-0 on Oct. 4/13; L 4-0 on Oct. 5/13) earlier in October.

Since the tough start vs. Alberta, Manitoba has won six games and lost once in extra time during the last 12 conference regular season games. Alberta enters the weekend after suffering only their first loss in Canada West last weekend at Calgary (L 2-0 on Nov. 22). 

In Canada West 2013-14 scoring, forward Aaron Lewadniuk (six goals, nine assists) leads the team and tied for sixth in Canada West scoring with 15 points. Forward Jesse Paradis (5g, 7a) is tied for 20th in conference and second on team with 12 points. Forward Ian Duval and Lewadniuk are tied for sixth in conference goals with six while rookie forward Jordan DePape is tied for 11th in Canada West with 11 assists plus forward Luke Cain is tied for fourth with two game-winning conference goals.

Defenceman Jeremy Schappert (one goal, seven assists) is tied for eighth in Canada West defenceman scoring with eight points while DePape (1g, 9a) is tied for seventh in conference rookie scoring with ten points. Goalie Joe Caligiuri is seventh in Canada West with 2.77 Goals Against Average, seventh in Save Pct. at .911, tied for second with two shutouts and tied for fifth with five wins.
