In men's basketball, Manitoba lose at Saskatchewan by 100-86

All five University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's basketball starters scored in double figures in a 100-86 win for the over the University of Manitoba Bisons on Friday, November 29 night at the PAC in Saskatoon.


Stephon Lamar (16), Andrew Henry (12), Ben Baker (14), Dadrian Collins (11) and Matt Forbes (20), while Evan Ostertag accomplished the same feat scoring 18 off the bench. Forbes recorded a double-double in the game with 13 rebounds.


With the victory the No. 7 Huskies improve to 8-1, while Manitoba drops to 1-8 after losing its seventh straight contest.


Both teams shot over 50% in a back-and-forth first quarter with the Huskies taking a 25-22 edge after the opening 10 minutes.


The Huskies would push the tempo in the second with defensive pressure and transition baskets eventually outscoring the Bisons 22-13 to hold a 47-35 lead at the half.


Henry went 3-for-3 for beyond the arc in the third quarter as the Huskies poured in 30 points to lead 77-62.  


Dan Penner scored a game-high 24 points in the loss. Justus Alleyn added nine points and four assists. Andrew Arruda was the top rebounder for the Bisons with four.


The two squads meet up again tomorrow night at 8 p.m. MT at the PAC.
