BRANDON – The Manitoba Bisons men's basketball team exacted a measure of revenge Saturday, January 18 night, earning the weekend split in Brandon with a 68-51 win over the host Bobcats. The win snaps a 11 conference game losing streak for the Bisons.
Neither team shot the ball well, but Brandon's 31% percent shooting from the field and 9% on 2-for-22 shooting from beyond the arc kept the Bobcats out of the game.
The Bisons shot at a slightly higher rate, and also forced Brandon to commit 21 turnovers which seemed to give Manitoba the edge.
The Bisons were led by Andre Arruda's game-high 22 points, who also added 11 rebounds. Amir Ali and Amarjit Basi both contributed 11 points in the winning effort.
Fifth-year forward Jordan Reaves finished the contest with a double-double (10 points, 13 rebounds) while Ilarion Bonhomme added 13 points and Emerick Ravier added 10 points.
The win improves Manitoba's record to 2-12, while Brandon's four-game win streak comes to an end with a 5-9 record.
Up next for the Bisons is a weekend home-stand against the Regina Cougars on Jan. 24-25, while the Bobcats will play in a home and home series against the Winnipeg Wesmen with games on Thursday and Saturday.
