The Manitoba Bisons host the Regina Cougars in men's volleyball action on Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m. CT and Saturday, October 18 at 3 p.m. CT.
The 2014-15 Canada West conference season just begun with Manitoba holding a 1-1 record and Regina playing their first matches of the conference season. Not only are the matches important in the conference standings but also in addition, could hold more significance by the end of the weekend.
Bison men's volleyball head coach Garth Pischke is two wins away from breaking the North American all-time coaching win match record for men's volleyball as he sits with 1,238 wins.
The Winnipeg native is now in his 33 year at the helm of the Bisons and currently holds an overall coaching record at 1,238-336 (.786). Pischke is closing on the coaching win record recently set by UCLA legendary coach Al Scates when he completed his 50 year coaching career in the 2012 season with a stunning mark of 1,239-290 (.810) winning record - which ranked first among all Division I men's volleyball coaches in the US.
This is also the most overall coaching wins by a CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) head coach in history.
