Box Score WINNIPEG - Quarterback Jordan Yantz was a major factor as he rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two touchdowns as the Manitoba Bisons won 42-18 over the Regina Rams during the 2014 Bisons home opener in front of 6,435 at Investors Group Field on Friday, September 12.

With the home win, Manitoba equals its record to 1-1 while Regina falls to 1-1 in the young football season.

After a slow first quarter led by the home side to the tune of 7-2, Manitoba broke it open in the second with three consecutive TDs. Running back Kienan LaFrance started the major scoring with a one yard plunge, linebacker Jonathan Jones nabbed a pick six from 52 yards away and Yantz ran it in from the four yards to extend a halftime lead to 27-2. LaFrance run was set-up by a blocked punt by Alex Christie deep in the Rams' territory and seemed to ignite the hosts.

Yantz was the top passer with 206 yards on 11-23 with two TD strikes to slotback and three-time CIS All-Canadian Nic Demski (26 yard) and LaFrance (16) while also rushing for 53 yards and TDs scores of four and eight yards. Alex Vitt led the receivers with 105 yards on six catches.

For Regina, QB Cayman Shutter went 16-30 for 157 yards and two interceptions while Atlee Simon was top Rams rusher with 67 yards on ten carries. Addison Richards grabbed four passes for 89 yards. Both the Rams Michael Stefanovic and Bisons Tremaine Apperley both notched 8.5 tackles each.

Next week, Manitoba will host UBC in the annual Homecoming Game on Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. CT kickoff while Regina plays at Alberta on the same date.
