The Bison women's basketball team is proud to announce the team captain for the 2015-16 season. Guard Jenilyn Monton is captain for the Bison women's basketball team for the upcoming season. In addition, Montana Kinzel and Rebecca Potter have been named as assistant captains.

This is the first time as Bison captains for all three players. 

Bison women's basketball head coach Michele Hynes, in her second season, stated, "All three players bring different leadership qualities which represent the entire team. We are looking forward to develop their leadership roles on and off the court this season."

Monton, 20, becomes team captain for the first time in her third season at Manitoba. Monton played in all 20 conference regular season games (started in four) in 2014-15 and was fifth in team scoring at 5.1 points per game. The 5'5" guard for Winnipeg averaged just under 20 minutes per game (19.7) last year, fifth on team with 26.5% (26-98) from three-point line and first on Bisons with 2.3 assists per game. 

Kinzel, 19, is in her second year of eligibility with the Bisons. In her rookie campaign, the 6'0" forward was tied for seventh in team scoring with 3.2 points per game while playing 13 conference regular season games. The Winnipeg native was eighth on team at 15.3 minutes played per game and had 1.7 rebounds per game and tied for second on the squad with 1.2 steals per game.

Potter, 22, is in her four year of eligibility with the Bisons. In 2014-15 season, the 6'3" forward her rookie campaign was tied for seventh in team scoring with 3.2 points per game while playing 19 conference regular season games. The Winnipeg native was eighth on team with 34.2% (25-73) in field goal shooting percentage while averaging ten minutes per game.

Bison Notes: The Bisons started the 2015-16 conference women's basketball season at #2 Saskatchewan and lost both games on the road. They host the Calgary Dinos (1-1) in the home opener weekend on Friday, November 13 at 6 p.m. CT and Saturday, November 14 at 4 p.m. CT.
