The Lethbridge Pronghorns advance their conference winning steak to five games in men's hockey, with Manitoba Bisons falling 5-1 after struggling defensively on Saturday, November 14 at the Wayne Fleming Arena. 

After two tough home ice losses, the Bisons' move to 5-5-1 record, while the Pronghorns advance their conference record to 6-4-1.

"It's a hard loss for us, having played so well the previous two weekends and not performing to our capability this weekend, but Lethbridge created a lot of opportunities off the rush, and maximized off of that," said Bisons head coach Mike Sirant.

Bursting onto the ice in the first period, the Pronghorns pushed offensively and took a commanding 4-0 lead in the first period. Their lead began two minutes into the first, when Lethbridge defenseman Dustin Fosvelt found the back of the net, shooting it gloveside of the Bisons' starting netminder, Byron Spriggs.  

After a penalty was called against the Bisons at 7:24 for too many men on the ice, Tim Campbell of the Pronghorns took advantage of the power play and added a second goal, from the blue line, to the scoreboard. 

Continuing to push offensively, Pronghorns left wing Ryon Moser scored at 11:13. 

With six minutes left in the first the Bisons picked up their intensity, increasing their shots on goal by five in just one minute. After a scramble for the puck at 19:15 however, Robert Lindroes snuck the puck in between the goal pads of Bisons' Spriggs, increasing their lead to 4-0.

"It's certainly not the weekend we were hoping for, but we created some opportunities in the second and third this afternoon and can only work hard and try to get up again next week," said Sirant.

In the second period Bisons scored their first goal of the contest at 6:43 the home team's co-captain Jordan DePape found the net, with assists from Lee Christensen and Brock Sutherland. 

During the last minute of play Pronghorns left wing Justin Valentino laced through Bisons players and snapped a quick shot into the Bisons' net, making the score 5-1 going into the third.

Though both teams were provided with scoring opportunities in the third period, neither team was able to score again. The final score of the game was 5-1 for Lethbridge.

The puck will drop again for the Bisons on Friday, November 20 at 7pm CT when they host the conference-leading Saskatchewan Huskies. The Pronghorns head home, to face the Regina Cougars at 7pm MT on November 20.
