Box Score

SASKATOON – Fifth-year University of Saskatchewan forward Marley Ervine scored at 3:01 of the second overtime to lift the No. 8 ranked Huskies to a 3-2 women's hockey victory over the University of Manitoba Bisons on Friday, November 20.

The Huskies improve to 5-3-3-2 on the season while the Bisons drop their first overtime game of the season to fall to 7-5-0-1.

Ervine stole the puck at the Bisons blue line midway through the second extra session. From there, Erivne walked in alone on Manitoba goaltender Rachel Dyck, sending a shot glove side just over the pad to send the Huskie faithful home happy.

The Huskies looked like they might escape with three points and a regulation win, up 2-1 in the third period. Defenceman Erica Rieder was able to help the Bisons salvage a point by jumping on a rebound and putting it home for her second of the season to knot things up at two at 13:15.

Saskatchewan got second period goals from Elizabeth Salyn and Kaitlin Willoughby to erase an early 1-0 deficit. Salyn scored her first CIS goal on a play set up by Brooke Mutch and Hanna McGillivray at 11:04. Willougby took a pass from Julia Flinton and used her speed to blow by a Bison defender before scoring at 14:00.

Kayleigh Wiens scored the opener for Manitoba 1:27 into the second after neither team could muster up a goal in the opening 20 minutes. Cassandra Taylor picked up the assist on the game's first goal.

The two teams meet again tomorrow night at 5 p.m. at Rutherford Rink.
