At the completion of the 2014-15 Canada West conference men's basketball regular season, the Manitoba Bisons finished in seventh place in the Pioneers Division in the Canada West conference with a 9-11 record and will now travel on the road and play the fifth place Calgary Dinos (12-8) in the Canada West Play-In best-of-three playoff series on the February 20-22 weekend.
The best-of-three playoff series commences on Friday, February 20 with start time of 8 p.m. CT for game one then on Saturday, February 14, game two is at 8 p.m. CT and, if necessary, game three will be play on Sunday, February 15 at 4 p.m. CT. All playoff contests will be played in Calgary. During this season, Manitoba went 1-1 against Calgary (L 76-71 on Nov. 21/14; W 73-68 on Nov. 21/14). Since the beginning of the second half of the 2014-15 season, the Bisons have gone 1-9 and won one of those five games on the road.
In his sixth season as head coach, Kirby Schepp has guided the program to their third playoff appearance (20101-11, 2012-13, 2014-15). The Bisons seek their first post-season series victory since the 2000-01 when Manitoba won 2-1 in games over Winnipeg in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) playoff series.
In this conference men's basketball season, the Bisons are fifth in scoring offence at 78.9 points per game and 15th in scoring defence at 80.7 points per game. In Canada West free throw made and attempts, Manitoba was second with 302 and 437. In overall rebounding, the Bisons were second at 42.5 per game plus second in 28.9 per game. The Herd were also seventh in field goal shots made at 576, eighth with 14.2 assists per game and tied for fifth in steals per game at 8.5. A.J. Basi leads the team and 13th in Canada West scoring at 16.3 points per game while Wyatt Anders was fifth in conference rebounds per game at 9.1. Stephan Walton is tied for 12th in conference assist with 3.8 per game.
