#6 Bison men’s volleyball team host #8 UBC in Canada West Quarter Final best-of-three playoff series on February 13-15 weekend held at Investors Group Athletic Centre

Manitoba finished fourth; game one and two played at 7 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and game three, if necessary, at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday

At the conclusion of the 2014-15 Canada West conference regular season, the #6 Manitoba Bisons men's volleyball team finished fourth in the Canada West standings with a 14-10 record and now will host the fifth place and #8 UBC Thunderbirds (13-11) in the Canada West Quarter Final best-of-three playoff series on the February 13-15 weekend.  

The best-of-three playoff series commences on Friday, February 13 with a special start time of 7 p.m. CT for game one then game two on Saturday, February 14 at 7 p.m. CT and, if necessary, game three will be play on Sunday, February 15 at 6 p.m. CT. All playoff contests will be played at the Investors Group Athletic Centre - IGAC (U of Manitoba campus). 

During this season, Manitoba went 1-1 against UBC as they split at home (L 3-1 on Nov. 7/14; W 3-1 on Nov. 8/14). Since the beginning of the second half of the 2014-15 season, the Bisons have gone 7-3 and won two of those three matches at home.

This is the first time the Bisons have hosted a playoff series since the 2011-12 season when they won 2-0 versus UBC Okanagan en route to a CIS bronze medal finish. Last season, the Herd did not make the post-season and in 2012-13, the Bisons lost 2-0 at UBC after a four set and five set match losses.

In Canada West final 2014-15 regular season stats, the Bisons were eighth in hitting percentage at .240 while UBC was third (.282); the Herd was eighth in assists at 11.16 per set while UBC was second (12.19); eighth in conference kills at 11.91 per set for the Bisons and the T-Birds were second (12.89); Manitoba ended up tied for third with UBC in blocks at 2.58 per set; Manitoba finished ninth in service aces at 1.12 per set and UBC was tenth (1.09) plus the Bisons was eighth in conference digs at 9.08 and the Thunderbirds ended up fifth (9.43). 

Individually in Canada West final regular season stats, Devren Dear was fourth in conference kills at 3.89 per set. Luke Herr was second in conference assists at 10.32 per set and also tied for third in Canada Wests service aces per at 0.40 while Alex Strachan finished sixth in Canada West digs at 2.12 per set. Ken Rooney was second in blocks at 1.29 per set. Dear was third in conference points (406.5) and Adam DeJonckheere ended up 12th (325.5).
