#7 Bison Football host #10 UBC in week three on Saturday, September 19 with a 6 p.m. CT kickoff at Investors Group Field

This is the third consecutive week to start the 2015 conference season that Manitoba has played a CIS Top 10 team

The #7 Manitoba Bisons (1-1) host #10 UBC Thunderbirds (1-1) in week three football action on Saturday, September 19 with a 6 p.m. CT kickoff at Investors Group Field. The game will also be available on live radio broadcast on 680 CJOB (online at: cjob.com).

 

This is the third consecutive week that the Bisons will play at CIS Top 10 ranked team as they defeated then #8 Saskatchewan on the road to start the 2015 campaign with a 34-28 road victory on Fri., Sept. 4 then lost 46-38 to then #2 Calgary in the home opener on Fri., Sept. 11. 

Manitoba has made the CIS Top 10 all three weeks and sit at number seven this week while UBC has been ranked all three weeks and remain at number ten this week. The T-Birds won their homecoming game in week two by a 27-20 over Regina on Sept. 12 and started the 2015 season with a 49-16 loss at Calgary (Sept. 4).

Last season, Manitoba played UBC once and won 20-10 at Manitoba in week three, en route to a Uteck Bowl (CIS semi-final) appearance. UBC last won at Manitoba in the 2013 season. In the 2014 season, Manitoba went 4-4 in the regular season (third in Canada West) and was a Canada West champion after two conference playoff road wins while UBC went 2-6 and was sixth and last in conference standings.

Over Brian Dobie's tenure with Manitoba (19 seasons), the Bisons have a 17-12 record against the Thunderbirds and 7-7 at home during the conference regular season. 

Running back/kick returner Jamel Lyles was named Canada West Special Teams Player of the Week for week two after being CIS and conference Offence Player of the Week in week one.

Manitoba and UBC plays twice during the conference regular season in 2015 and will play at UBC on Sat., October 31 in week eight.

Bison Notes: Ticket prices remain the same from the inaugural season at Investors Group Field in 2013. The ticket pricing for Bison Football regular season games is $15 for adults, U of M Students are free (more details on gobisons.ca website) while High School students receive a 50% off of General Admission price at the gate with valid GoCard plus 12 and under are free with an accompanied adult.
