#6 Bison Football host #2 Calgary in 2015 Canada West home opener on Friday, September 11 with a 7 p.m. CT kickoff at Investors Group Field

This is the rematch of the 2014 Canada West Final in which Manitoba won 27-15 at Calgary

The #6 Manitoba Bisons (1-0) host #2 Calgary (1-0) in 2015 Canada West football home opener on Friday, September 11 with a 7 p.m. CT kickoff at Investors Group Field. The game will also be televised live as Canada West Shaw Game of the Week and live radio broadcast can be heard on 101.5 UMFM (online at: umfm.com).

 

This is the second consecutive week that the Bisons will play at CIS Top 10 ranked team as they defeated then #8 Saskatchewan on the road to start the 2015 campaign with a 34-28 road victory on Fri., Sept. 4. Manitoba has jumped from number ten in the initial CIS Top 10 while Calgary has leapfrogged from number four to two in the rankings after winning 49-16 at home versus #7 UBC in week one of football play.

Last season, Manitoba played the Dinos three times and won twice. The Herd won 27-15 in the Canada West Final on Nov. 15 at Calgary, en route to a Uteck Bowl (CIS semi-final) appearance. On Nov. 1, Manitoba won 50-31 at home to secure a third place regular season finish and playoff berth on the last week of the 2014 season and lost 42-41 on the road on Sept.26.

In the 2014 season, Manitoba went 4-4 in the regular season (third in Canada West) and was a Canada West champion after two conference playoff road wins while Calgary finished 6-2 (first in league) and then lost in the final to the Herd to snap their six consecutive conference title run. 

Over Brian Dobie's tenure with Manitoba (19 seasons), the Bisons have a 11-18 record against the Dinos and 7-7 at home during the conference regular season. 

Manitoba is looking to make in 3-3 at home openers at Investors Group Field after winning 42-18 over Regina in 2014 and a 65-41 home win against Alberta in 2013.

Manitoba and Calgary will only play once during the conference regular season in 2015.

Bison Notes: Ticket prices remain the same from the inaugural season at Investors Group Field in 2013. The ticket pricing for Bison Football regular season games is $15 for adults, U of M Students are free (more details on gobisons.ca website) while High School students receive a 50% off of General Admission price at the gate with valid GoCard plus 12 and under are free with an accompanied adult.
