The Bison volleyball teams continue their 2015-16 conference regular season as they start up the second half of the season at home as they host the UBC Okanagan Heat in a weekend series on January 8-9. On Friday night, the men's match will be at 6 p.m. CT and the women's is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT while on Saturday, matches starts at 3 p.m. for men and 4:30 p.m. for women.
The #3 Bison men's volleyball team (10-2) is in second place and only four points back of #2 Alberta Golden Bears. Manitoba has won two matches in a row and face the Heat who have a 3-9 record and sits in 11th place in the 13 team conference standings.
In conference stats, the Bison men's team is third in hitting percentage at .306, second in assists at 12.48 per set, second in conference kills at 13.09, third in blocks at 2.40 per set, 13th in service aces at 0.91 and fourth in conference digs at 9.45. Individually, Devren Dear is fifth and Adam DeJonckheere is 11th in kills per set at 3.94 and 3.48 plus in conference points, DeJonckheere is ninth with 175.5 and Dear in 13th at 160.0. DeJonckheere is sixth in Canada West in hitting percentage at .326. Luke Herr is second in Canada West with 10.89 assists per set plus 12th with 1.98 digs per set. Josh Crellin is sixth in blocks per set at 1.00.
The Bison women's volleyball team (2-10) is playing #3 UBC Okanagan Heat as they hold an 11-1 record. The Bisons seek their second home match win of this season and are only six points out of a playoff spot.
In Canada West stats, the Bisons are 11th in hitting percentage at .121, 11th in assists at 9.43 per set, 12th in conference kills at 9.80, tenth in blocks at 1.76 per set, tenth in service aces at 1.67 and third in conference digs at 13.65. Individually, Haille Bujan is 19th in conference kills per set at 2.37. Sydney Booker is 11th and Sydney Purvis is 12th in assists per set with 7.09 and 6.63. Caleigh Dobie is fifth in Canada West at 3.33 in digs per set.
