Bison Football return to play on the road to face #5 Calgary Dinos on Friday, October 14 with a 8 p.m. CT kickoff

Manitoba is 2-2 while Calgary is 4-1 after five weeks of conference action

The Manitoba Bisons (2-3) is coming off the conference bye and they travel on the road to face #5 Calgary Dinos (4-1) on Friday, October 14 with kickoff at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be available to watch on SHAW TV and also be on live webcast (canadawest.org – fee required).
 
This is the second meeting between the two teams in the conference regular season in 2016. Calgary defeated Manitoba by a 23-14 score to start the 2016 season in week one on Sept. 1.

In the conference standings with three games left, Manitoba is tied for fourth spot with Saskatchewan (four make the playoffs and Bisons hold tie-breaker on Sask.) with a 2-3 record. UBC is third with 3-2 mark while Calgary and Regina sit atop the standings with 4-1 record. Alberta holds sixth place with a 0-5 record.

In the latest 2016 CIS Top 10 poll, the Bisons are just outside of the Top Ten while Calgary is ranked number five.

Last season, Manitoba played the Dinos only once and it was during the Bisons' home opener in 2015 and Calgary won 46-38 at IGF. Over Brian Dobie's tenure with Manitoba (21 seasons), the Bisons have an 11-20 record against the Dinos and 4-11 on the road during the conference regular season with the last time the Herd won at Calgary in the regular season was the 2005 season (W 28-27 on Oct. 21/05).

In 2016, Calgary won 23-14 at Manitoba, won 35-8 vs. UBC at home (Sept. 9), won 20-19 at Saskatchewan (Sept. 16), lost 32-27 at Regina (Sept. 23) and won 50-15 at home against Alberta (Oct. 1).

In 2016 conference regular season team stats after week five, Manitoba is first in offence with 36.4 points average per game while Calgary is fourth at 31.0 points per game. In offence yards per game, the Bisons are first with 524.6 while the Dinos are third at 517.4. On defence, Manitoba is fourth with 29.2 points allowed per game while Calgary is first at 17.6 pts./game. In yards allowed, Manitoba is third (477.2) and the Dinos are first (381.2).
