Bison Football at home against Regina on Saturday, October 29 with 8 p.m. CT kickoff in first ever doubleheader at Investors Group Field

Bisons game after Winnipeg Blue Bombers play earlier at 3 p.m. CT; Manitoba is 3-4 while Regina is 5-2 heading into final week of season and Manitoba still chance for playoffs

The Manitoba Bisons (3-4) return home to host the Regina Rams (5-2) with 8 p.m. CT kickoff in first ever doubleheader at Investors Group Field. The game will be available on live webcast (canadawest.org – fee required) along with radio broadcast can be heard live on 101.5 UMFM (online at: umfm.com).

The Bisons game occurs after the Winnipeg Blue Bombers play earlier at 3 p.m. CT the same day against the Ottawa REDBLACKS in the first ever Bombers-Bisons doubleheader in the four year history of Investors Group Field.

This is the final regular season game of the 2016 season with huge playoff implications for Manitoba as they battle to clinch a playoff spot in week eight. In the conference standings, Manitoba is in fifth spot with a 3-4 record and only four teams making the playoffs. Calgary and Regina have clinched a playoff berth with a 5-2 record while Saskatchewan has also clinched with a 4-3 mark in third place. UBC sits in fourth with a 3-4 record but holds the tie-breaker against Manitoba. Alberta is eliminated from post-season play in sixth place with a 1-6 mark.

By the time Manitoba steps onto the field, UBC and Calgary will be underway with a 7 p.m. CT start on Oct. 29 and a UBC lost will keep Manitoba playoff bid alive. In addition, if Saskatchewan loses at home to Alberta on Fri., Oct. 28, then a three-way tie (Sask., UBC, Manitoba) with identical 4-4 record will have the Bisons win the three-way tie-breaker and finish third. Saskatchewan would then win the head-to-head tie-break with UBC.

In the latest 2016 CIS Top 10 poll, the Bisons are not in Top Ten while Calgary is ranked number four and Regina in eighth spot.

Since Regina entered the Canada West conference in 1999 (18 seasons), the Bisons have a 17-12 overall record against the Rams and 11-3 at home during the conference regular season.

This is the second meeting between the two teams in the conference regular season in 2016. Manitoba lost 41-38 in week two at Regina on Sept. 8.

Bison Notes: Manitoba plays at home for the first time since September 25. A span of 35 days away from IGF.
