Bison men’s hockey team host Lethbridge on Nov. 11-12 at Wayne Fleming Arena

First game of the weekend series on Friday at 7 p.m. CT and second game on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Manitoba looking to win first home weekend series of 2016-17

The Bison men's hockey team continues the 2016-17 Canada West conference season by hosting the Lethbridge Pronghorns on November 11-12 weekend at the Wayne Fleming Arena (U of M Fort Garry campus). Puck drop versus the Pronghorns will be 7 p.m. CT on Friday and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. Tickets available at the Arena door.

The Bisons seek to win their first home weekend series of 2016-17. Manitoba is 1-3 so far at Wayne Fleming Arena (W 3-2 vs. UBC on Oct. 28/16).

Heading into the two game weekend series, Manitoba sits in a tie for fifth spot in the Canada West standings entering the weekend with a 4-4-0 record for eight points and only four points out of second spot held by Alberta. The Bisons have won four of last six consecutive conference games. Lethbridge is seventh in the eight team conference as they hold a 2-3-3 record for seven points and lost four in a row.

This is the first weekend series between the two teams this season. In 2015-16, the Herd went 1-3 against the Pronghorns (L 7-5 on Nov. 13/15 and L 5-1 on Nov. 14/15 at home; L 5-2 on Jan. 22/16 and W 4-1 on Jan. 23/16 on the road).

Manitoba and Lethbridge have three players in the Canada West Top 20 scoring. For the Bisons, third year forward Justin Augert is tied for 13th with eight points (seven goals, one assist) along with fourth year forward Shaq Merasty (2g, 6a). For the Pronghorns, Tim Campbell (3g, 5a) also has eight points.

Augert is tied for second in the Canada West conference with seven goals while Merasty is tied for fifth with six conference assists.

In the nets, Bison third year netminder Byron Spriggs has played in five conference regular season games and in fifth place in Goals Against Average with 2.22, fourth in Save Percentage at .926 and tied for fourth with three conference wins. Bison second year goalie Justin Paulic is 11th with .896 Save Pct. and 12th with 3.37 GAA.
