Men's Volleyball

Bison volleyball teams host weekend series against #1 Alberta on November 18-19 weekend

On Fri., men start at 6 p.m. CT; women at 7:30 p.m. CT plus Sat. at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Bison volleyball teams host a weekend series against Alberta on Friday, November 18 and then Saturday, November 19 at the Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of Manitoba campus). On Friday, the men's game will be at 6 p.m. CT and the women's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT while on Saturday, men's start at 3 p.m. CT and women's at 4:30 p.m. CT. Tickets available at the door of IGAC.

The #5 Bison men's volleyball team (5-1) is on a four game conference win streak and tied for third spot in the Canada West conference standings. The #1 Alberta Golden Bears has a 4-0 record. The two teams met in conference play last season when Alberta won 3-0 (Nov. 20/15) and 3-1 (Nov. 21/15) at Alberta and the two teams played at the Canada West Final 4 bronze medal match with the Bears winning 3-0 (Mar. 4/16).

In conference 2016-17 stats, the Bison men's team is third in hitting percentage at .261, tied for seventh in assists at 11.00 per set, eighth in conference kills at 11.62, ninth in blocks at 2.24 per set, seventh in service aces at 1.19 and third in conference digs at 9.76.

Individually, Adam DeJonckheere is fourth in kills at 68, tied for third with 77 conference points and fifth with .340 hitting percentage. Luke Herr is third with 182 assists and second with nine service aces. Kevin Falconer is eighth with 36 digs and Devren Dear is tied for eighth with five service aces.

The Bison women's volleyball team (2-4) is on a two game home win streak in 2016-17 and face the #1 Alberta Pandas (4-0). Manitoba is tied for ninth place in the Canada West conference standings. The two teams met in conference play last season when Alberta won 3-0 (Nov. 20/15) and 3-1 (Nov. 21/15) at Alberta.

In Canada West stats, the Bisons are tenth in hitting percentage at .176, fifth in conference kills at 11.63, eighth in assists at 10.38 per set, seventh in blocks at 2.04 per set, 11th in service aces at 1.50 and third in conference digs at 14.25.

Individually, Tori Studler is fifth with 68 kills and tied for seventh with 74 conference points. Kearley Abbott is third with 83.5 points and ninth with .260 hitting percentage. Sydney Booker is second with 211 assists and tied for second with 13 service aces. Josie Abbott is tied for seventh with nine service aces.  Cassie Bujan and Studler are tied for seventh with 55 digs with Sarah Klassen tied for second with 19 total blocks. Jocelyn Koswin and Kearley Abbott are tied for fifth with 18 overall blocks.
