#3 Manitoba win seventh straight with four set win at #8 Saskatchewan in men's volleyball

Same two teams play again tomorrow, at 8 p.m. CT; Dear led with 16 kills and Rooney with 11 blocks

Box Score SASKATOON – The No. 3 ranked University of Manitoba Bisons won a battle of Top 10 men's volleyball teams with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-9, 25-23) victory over the No. 8 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies Friday, Dec. 2 night at the PAC in Saskatoon.
 
With the road win the Bisons improve to 8-1 on the season and have won seven straight in Canada West play, while the Huskies drop to 6-3.

After the Huskies won the opening set 25-20, Manitoba found a stride winning the next three sets.
 
Playing back-and-forth all night long, Saskatchewan built a four-point lead on a Daulton Sinoski service ace at 22-18. Manitoba couldn't recover and a Colin Fraser attack gave the Huskies a 25-20 win.
 
Manitoba evened the match with a 25-23 win in the second game. Tied at 23 after a Derek Epp and Sinoski block, the Bisons tallied the next two points on a Devren Dear attack and a Huskies' error for the win. The Bisons sailed to the third set win after getting ahead 12-5. They didn't look back winning 25-9.
 
Saskatchewan had a seven point lead in the fourth at 17-10, before Manitoba crawled back in the game. The teams matched each other three more times after the 19-19 tie in the set. Adam Dejonckheere gave the Bisons' the 24-23 and a Zak Rempel attack that sailed long to sealed a 25-23 Bisons' win.
 
Dear led Manitoba with 16 kills on the night, followed by Dejonckheere with 12 and Ken rooney will 11 blocks. Luke Herr and Dear each recorded seven digs.
 
Fraser led the Huskies with 14 kills, while Andrew Nelson recorded another 13. Etienne Hagenbuch tallied 10 digs.
 
The two teams will meet again Saturday, Dec. 3 night at the PAC. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
