The Bison volleyball teams host the Winnipeg Wesmen on Thursday, December 8 at the Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of Manitoba campus) to complete first half of the 2016-17 conference season with the men's game at 6 p.m. CT and the women's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. The #3 Bison men's volleyball team (9-1) is on an eight game conference win streak and in second spot in the Canada West conference standings. The Wesmen have a 4-6 record and lost last five matches. The two teams met in conference play last season when Manitoba won 3-0 (Feb. 4/16) at Winnipeg and won 3-2 (Feb. 6/6) at home.
In conference 2016-17 stats, the Bison men's team is third in hitting percentage at .290, second in blocks at 2.72 per set, eighth in assists at 11.16 per set, eighth in conference kills at 11.73, seventh in service aces at 1.24 and tenth in conference digs at 8.78.
Individually, Devren Dear is eighth in Canada West with 3.34 kills per set. Adam DeJonckheere is second in hitting percentage at .332 and Dear is tenth at .278 and Scott Vercaigne is 11th at .252. Luke Herr is seventh with 9.19 assists per set and first with 0.49 service aces per set. Kevin Falconer is 16th with 1.97 digs/set while Ken Rooney is seventh with 1.08 blocks/set and Dear (4.0) and DeJonckheere (3.6) are sixth and 13th in points per set.

The two teams met in conference play last season when Winnipeg won 3-0 (Feb. 4/16) at Winnipeg and won 3-2 (Feb. 6/6) at Manitoba.
In Canada West stats, the Bisons are eighth in hitting percentage at .159, sixth in conference kills at 11.12 per set, seventh in assists at 10.24 per set, ninth in blocks at 2.02 per set, 12th in service aces at 1.37 per set and second in conference digs/set at 14.49.
Individually, Kearley Abbott is 12th with 2.90 kills per set, seventh with .266 hitting percentage and ninth in points at 142.0. Sydney Booker is fourth at 8.90 assists per set and tenth with 0.46 service aces/set. In digs per set, Cassie Bujan is seventh at 3.12 while Caleigh Dobie at tenth with 2.88. Sarah Klassen is in 16th place in blocks per set with 0.82. Tori Studler is 18th with 109.0 points.
