The Bisons’ next game is against the University of Calgary at 8:30 p.m. CT on Feb. 19, while the Bobcats host MacEwan University on Feb. 19

Box Score WINNIPEG, MB – The #4 University of Manitoba Bisons and the Brandon University Bobcats squared off in men's volleyball action at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Saturday, February 13. The match was close, but the Bisons picked up momentum in the second set to carry the match three sets to one (21-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-20). The Bisons are now 18-4 for the season, while the Bobcats sit at 5-17 in Canada Wets standings.

The Bobcats' early presence at the net proved difficult for the fourth-ranked home team to get past in the first set. However, Manitoba's offense came alive in the second—making many impressive digs and consistently finding a way past Brandon's tall blockers. The home team rode their momentum to take the match three sets to one.

"The team just individually took charge of that match," said Bisons Head Coach Garth Pischke. "It wasn't anything that I did, it was strictly on them to figure out we better do something about this."

The Bobcats, led by hitter Roy Ching, started the match strong, consistently blocking the fourth-ranked Bisons and narrowly holding the lead to take the set 25-21.

Manitoba dominated the second set; taking an early lead and never letting the Bobcats get close. Adam DeJonckheere, with six kills and four digs for the set, led his team to a 25-11 win.

The third set was closely contested until the home team started to create some distance halfway through. Manitoba's Devren Dear picked up five kills and five digs, while DeJonckheere finished the set with an impressive kill to win it 25-18.

The fourth and final set was also close for the most part, with both teams scoring impressive service aces and trading points. Again, DeJonckheere closed off the set with an impressive kill to finish the match with a 25-20 set for Manitoba.

DeJonckheere led the game's kills with 20, followed closely by Dear with 18 for the home team. Ching led the Bobcats with 15 kills for the match. Dear led the match with 14 digs, while Ching led Brandon with 10 digs.

The Bisons' next game is against the University of Calgary at 7:30 p.m. MT on Fri., Feb. 19, while the Bobcats host MacEwan University on Feb. 19.
