Bison Football host second game of the 2016 Canada West regular season against Alberta on Friday, September 16 with 7 p.m. CT kickoff

Manitoba is 0-2 while Alberta is also 0-2 after two weeks of action

The Manitoba Bisons (0-2) continue to seek their first win of their 2016 Canada West football regular season as they host second home game of the season against the Alberta Golden Bears (0-2) with kickoff on Friday, September 16 at 7 p.m. CT at Investors Group Field (U of Manitoba Fort Garry campus). The game will also be on live webcast (canadawest.org – fee required) along with radio broadcast can be heard live on 101.5 UMFM (online at: umfm.com).

In the latest 2016 CIS Top 10 poll, the Bisons are now unranked after being in the Top 10 for the first two weeks while Alberta remains unranked for the first three polls.

Last season, Manitoba played the Bears twice and defeated them both times as Manitoba won 29-7 over Alberta at home (Oct. 23/15) and Bisons won 42-32 on the road (Sept. 25/15).
Over Brian Dobie's tenure with Manitoba (20 years), the Bisons have a 14-13-1 overall record against the Bears and 8-6 at home during the conference regular season.

In the 2015 season, Manitoba went 5-3 in the regular season (third in Canada West) and lost in the conference semi-final to eventual CIS champion UBC Thunderbirds while Alberta went 2-6 and fifth place in the six team conference standings.

Earlier this 2016 regular season, Manitoba lost 23-14 over then #7 Calgary Dinos at home (Sept. 1/16) and 41-38 at Regina (Sept. 8/16) while Alberta lost 39-24 at UBC (Sept. 3/16) and then lost 29-17 at home to Saskatchewan (Sept. 9/16).

In 2016 team conference stats, the Bisons are second in Canada West conference offence yards per game at 480.5 while the Bears are fifth (429.5). In conference defence yards per game, Alberta is second at 394.0 and Manitoba is fifth at 524.5.

Manitoba and Alberta will play once again during the conference regular season in 2016 when the Bisons travel to Edmonton on Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. CT at Foote Field.

Bison Notes: In week two, Bison third year quarterback Theo Deezar set a new Bison record for most completions in a single game with 30 (old record was set by Deezar in Oct. 17/15 at Regina with 29) plus had the second most attempts in a game with 49 and second most passing yards in Bison history with 457 passing yards during the 41-38 road loss at Regina.
