#8 Bison Football first road game of the 2016 Canada West regular season against Regina on Thursday, September 8 with 8 p.m. CT kickoff

Manitoba is 0-1 while Regina is also 0-1 after week one action

The #8 Manitoba Bisons (0-1) continues their 2016 Canada West football regular season with the first road game of the season against the Regina Rams (0-1) with kickoff on Thursday, September 8 at 8 p.m. CT at Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field. The game will also be televised live as on SHAW TV/Access plus canadawest.org along with radio broadcast can be heard live on 101.5 UMFM (online at: umfm.com).

In the latest 2016 CIS Top 10 poll, the Bisons are now ranked eighth after starting the season at number five while Regina remains unranked for the first two polls.

Last season, Manitoba played the Rams twice and defeated them both times as Manitoba won 49-46 over Regina on the road (Oct. 17/15) and Bisons won 34-19 at home (Oct. 2/15). Since Regina entered the Canada West conference in 1999 (17 seasons), the Bisons have a 17-11 overall record against the Rams and 6-8 on the road during the conference regular season.

In the 2015 season, Manitoba went 5-3 in the regular season (third in Canada West) and lost in the conference semi-final to eventual CIS champion UBC Thunderbirds while Regina went 0-8 and was sixth place in the six team conference standings.

Earlier this 2016 regular season, both teams played in week one with the Bisons losing 23-14 over then #7 Calgary Dinos at home (Sept. 1/16) while Regina lost in double overtime by a 41-39 score at the Saskatchewan Huskies on Sept. 2/16.

Manitoba and Regina will play once again during the conference regular season in 2016 when the Bisons host the Rams on Saturday, October 29 at 8 p.m. CT at Investors Group Field.

Bison Notes: Bison fourth year linebacker DJ Lalama set a new Bison record for most tackles in a single conference regular season game with 14 total tackles (11 solo) in the 23-24 home loss to Calgary on Sept. 1. Lalama broke the old record set by Teague Sherman with 13 (Oct. 20, '12 vs. UBC). Bison first year receiver Riley Harrison led the team with 103 receiving yards on seven catches.
