Box Score BRANDON – The Manitoba Bisons exacted a measure of revenge on their provincial counterparts by beating the host Brandon Bobcats 73-69 on Saturday, Feb. 4 in women's volleyball.
The win gives Manitoba a split on the weekend and wins in two of their last three conference games.
The Bisons had a strong first quarter hitting 12 of 18 shots from the floor.
Rebecca Potter had 10 in the first quarter alone.
Brandon trailed by as much as 17 points in the second quarter before clawing back to a three point deficit in the dying seconds, but Brandon was forced to foul and send the Bisons to the line where they iced it.
Taylor Randall led the Bisons with 21 points and Potter finished the contest with 18 points. Rookie Rebecca Parisien had 12 points for the Bisons.
Brandon's Keisha Cox had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Kinsley Ransom finished with 10 points.
The win drops Brandon's record to 8-12 while Manitoba improves to 3-15.
The Bobcats' win on Friday secured their spot in the post-season. Brandon will enjoy a bye to conclude Canada West regular season action next weekend, while Manitoba will welcome the Mount Royal Cougars on Feb/ 10-11 weekend.
