The #10 Manitoba Bisons (0-0) starts their 2017 Canada West football regular season at home against the Saskatchewan Huskies (0-0) with kickoff on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. CT at Investors Group Field. The game will also be televised live on Canada West Football Showcase showing on Bell MTS channel 1802 in Manitoba and radio broadcast can be heard live on 101.5 UMFM (online at: umfm.com).

To begin the 2017 season, the Bisons are ranked tenth in the first U SPORTS Top 10 poll and also fourth ranked in the annual Canada West coaches' pre-season poll.

Last season, Manitoba played the Huskies only once and it was during the Bisons' Homecoming game in 2016 and Manitoba won 38-17 at IGF. Over Brian Dobie's tenure with Manitoba (21 seasons), the Bisons have a 16-14 record against the Huskies and 9-8 at home during the conference regular season.

In the 2016 season, Manitoba went 3-5 in the regular season (fifth in Canada West) and did not qualify for the post-season for the first time since 2011. Saskatchewan went 5-3 and finished third and lost to eventual conference champion Calgary in Canada West Semi-Final by 47-17 score in 2016 playoffs.

Earlier this 2017 season, Manitoba did not play in a pre-season game for the first time since 2014 and Saskatchewan lost 22-10 on the road on Aug. 25.

This is the first home game of the season for Manitoba and the Herd plays three of their first five regular season games at Investors Group Field.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan will play once again during the conference regular season in 2017 when the Huskies host the Bisons on Saturday, October 28 at 8 p.m. CT.
