The Bison men's hockey team play an important home weekend series as they are in a battle for third place in the Canada West conference by hosting the Regina Cougars on January 26-27 weekend at the Wayne Fleming Arena (U of M Fort Garry campus). Puck drop versus the Cougars will be 7 p.m. CT on Friday and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. Tickets available at the Arena door or on the Bison website (gobisons.ca).
The Bisons seek to win their third home weekend series of 2017-18 and have gone 7-3-0 record so far at Wayne Fleming Arena heading into the weekend series. Manitoba will play two consecutive weekend series at home (Jan 26-27 and Feb. 2-3) over the last three weeks left in the 2017-18 Canada West regular season.
Heading into the two game weekend series, Manitoba sits in third spot in the Canada West standings entering the weekend with a 12-8-2 record for 26 points and one point ahead of fourth place UBC and three points clear of fifth place Mount Royal. The Top 4 will host a playoff round. Regina has a 3-17-2 record and in eighth place at eight points in the eight team conference.
This is the second weekend series between the two teams this conference season. Earlier in 2017-18, the Herd played on the road versus Regina on November 10-11, 2017 and won 6-1 (Nov. 10) and won 6-5 in second overtime (Nov. 11).
Manitoba has three players in the Canada West Top 20 scoring. Third year forward (first year with Bisons) Michael St. Croix (eight goals, 18 assists) has 26 points in 22 games and in fifth place. Third year defenceman and alternate captain
Adam Henry (5g, 15a) is T-11th with 20 points and third year forward (first year with Bisons) Zach Franco (5g, 14a) are tied for 13th spot with 19 points.

Byron Spriggs has played in 20 conference regular season games and is eighth in the CW with 3.06 GAA and tied for eighth in Save Pct. with .911 while tied for second with ten conference wins and first in CW minutes played at 1174:58.
