REGINA, Sask. – The University of Regina women's dropped a 4-1 decision against the No. 2 ranked Manitoba Bisons in women's hockey at The Co-operators Centre on Friday, Jan. 26 night.

Alana Serhan, Lauryn Keen and Mekaela Fisher found the net for the visiting Bisons, as Manitoba leapfrogs UBC into first place in Canada West following a UBC loss to Saskatchewan on Friday night and hold a 15-5-2-1 record for 50 points.

Serhan opened the scoring with a powerplay marker late in the first period and ended the evening with an empty-netter with just 10 seconds to play to seal the win. Keen notched her sixth of the season just 37 seconds into the second period and Fisher scored her first six minutes after that.

The lone goal for Regina came from Lilla Carpenter-Boesch, as the second-year forward scored her first goal of the season at the 11:23 mark of the second period.

Serhan's first of the night and third of the season came following a Ireland South bodychecking minor, and was set up by a great cross-ice pass from Alanna Sharman. Serhan teed up the one timer and hammered it past Jane Kish to give the Bisons a lead heading into the first intermission.

Keen's marker came on a rush up the left wing, with a short-side shot that Kish thought she had but just snuck past the goalline and lit the lamp. Fisher was in the right spot at the right time for her goal, patiently waiting in the slot for a puck that took a deflection on its way to the net.

Carpenter-Boesch made a nifty move to get the Cougars on the board, sliding a rebound to her forehand before beating Bison rookie Lauren Taraschuk but Serhan's empty-net goal put a stamp on the Bison win.

Kish made 29 saves in the loss, as the Cougars fall to 6-13-1-3 and into a tie with Calgary for the final Canada West playoff spot. Taraschuk stopped 18 Cougar shots for her ninth win of the season.

The Cougars and Bisons will square off on Saturday, Jan. 27 afternoon with a 3 p.m. CT puck drop at The Co-operators Centre.
