WINNIPEG, MB — Bison women's hockey continue to reinforce their roster for 2019-20, as they announce the recruitment of Winnipeg native Sarah Dennehy.
The addition of Dennehy comes after the No. 1 ranked Bison women added Winnipegger Camryn Gillis in October and seven additional recruits in late August.
Dennehy, 17, is a 5'2" forward who is currently the team captain of St. Mary's Academy, where she's been with the prep team since 2015. In 2017-18, she had 48 points in 47 games (19 goals, 29 assists), which followed up 42 points (23 goals, 19 assists) in 2016-17 and 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 2015-16.
"We are incredibly pleased to announce the commitment of Sarah Dennehy to Bison women's hockey for 2019-20," said interim head coach Sean Fisher.
"Sarah is a dynamic offensive talent, willing to play on both sides of the puck and trusted by her coaches to play in all situations. Sarah skates well, competes incredibly hard and has high hockey intelligence. More importantly she is a leader on her team, a proven winner at every level she has played and a great person."
Dennehy was also a member of Team Manitoba in 2016 and 2017, competing in the National Championship, and is involved in the tryout process to do so again in 2019 for the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.
The Winnipeg native has also been a leader in the classroom, averaging 91 per cent in her Grade 11 classes at St. Mary's.
"I am really excited to become a member of the Bison hockey program!" said Dennehy in a statement.
