Men's Volleyball

Bison men’s volleyball teams play at No. 2 UBC in Canada West quarter-final best-of-three playoff series on February 22-24 weekend

Game one on Thursday at 9 p.m. CT with game two on Friday at 10 p.m. CT and game three – if necessary – on Saturday at 10 p.m. CT

The Bison men's volleyball team (11-13) earned their fourth consecutive playoff berth on the final weekend of the 2017-18 Canada West regular season and now play at No. 2 UBC Thunderbirds (20-4) in Canada West quarter-final best-of-three playoff series on February 22-24 weekend. Games will be live on canadawest.tv (fee req'd).

Manitoba finished the regular season in seventh place while UBC was second in conference standings. The best-of-three playoff series commences on Thursday, February 22 with a start time of 9 p.m. CT for game one. Game two is on Friday, February 23 at 10 p.m. CT and game three, if necessary, will be played on Saturday February 24 at 10 p.m. CT. All playoff matches played at UBC.

During this season, Manitoba and UBC played twice at UBC and split the regular season series as the Herd won 3-2 (Jan. 5/18) and lost 3-0 (Jan. 6/18).

Both teams faced off in the 2017 playoffs in the CW semi-final match during the Canada West Final 4 as the Bisons won 3-0 at Manitoba on Mar. 10/17. The last time the two teams met in a playoff series was in 2015 and UBC won 2-0 in the CW quarter-final best-of-three series at Manitoba.

Manitoba is on a four game winning streak heading into the playoffs and went 6-6 on the road in the 2017-18 conference regular season.

In conference 2017-18 men's volleyball stats, the Bison men's team was sixth in hitting percentage at .231, ninth in assists at 10.27 per set, ninth in conference kills at 11.02, first in blocks at 2.74 per set, 12th in service aces at 0.96 and 12th in conference digs at 8.29.

Individually in 2017-18 CW regular season stats, in kills, co-captain Adam DeJonckheere was fifth and Scott Vercaigne ended up eighth with 306 and 288 respectfully. Jack Mandryk was 12th in assists with 430 while Brendan Warren finished first with 112 total blocks plus co-captain Dustin Spiring was second at 94 blocks. DeJonckheere is 16th in hitting percentage at .240 and fifth in points (364.5) while Vercaigne sat in ninth in points (338.5) and 19th in hitting percentage (.223).
