After two straight trips to the U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship, the University of Manitoba Bisons women's hockey team have their home opener this Saturday. They'll battle the Mount Royal Cougars, with puck drop at Wayne Fleming Arena set for 7:30 p.m.
Saturday's game will be a celebration of World Girls' Hockey Night, with free toques for fans in attendance and girls' teams from across the city invited to attend for free.
It's also the first game for the Bisons women at the upgraded Wayne Fleming Arena (located in Max Bell Centre), which now features a centre ice video screen, updated concessions, standing bars around the concourse, and table seating in the corners.
This season, the Bisons will blend nine new recruits in with returning talent from two trips to nationals. One of those key returning players on offence is fifth-year
Jordyn Zacharias, who had 12 goals and four assists last season to finish third on the team with 16 points. Also expecting a strong season is fourth-year
Sheridan Oswald, who had eight goals and seven assists last season.
Women's Soccer International NightÂ

After a tough a weekend, the Bisons women's soccer team return home to host International Night against Winnipeg on Saturday. also at 7:30 p.m. This will be the 2nd of two battles between the Bisons and Wesmen following the Duckworth Challenge match at UW on Thursday. Saturday's match will be at the West Turf Field next to the Winnipeg South Indoor Soccer Complex on Chancellor Matheson Blvd.
UM Students get in free to all events, all season!
Once again, all UM students get into all Bisons home games for free with their student ID.Â

Single game tickets can be bought on game days at the door. Kids under 12, and junior hockey players are free with pre-registration and a jersey.
