Football Bison Sports Press Release

Bisons alumni Nic Demski, Thomas Miles, and Geoff Gray are 2019 Grey Cup Champions with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

It is the first Grey Cup for all three former Bisons football players.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are champions of the CFL for the first time since 1990, and with the win some hometown University of Manitoba Bisons alumni earned their first Grey Cup wins.

Former Bisons football players Nic Demski (2011-14), Geoff Gray (2013-16), and Thomas Miles (2011-2013) are Grey Cup champions for the first time, as Winnipeg beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-12 in the 107th Grey Cup at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. The three alumni join Trevor Hoilett (1988) as the only Bisons football players to ever win the Grey Cup with the Blue Bombers.

Demski finished his fifth CFL season with the Blue Bombers in 2019. The Winnipeg native and former Oak Park Raider had 44 catches for 543 yards and three touchdowns in 17 regular season games. In the Grey Cup, Demski had four receptions for 45 yards through the air and one rush for 22 yards.

Gray finished his second CFL season with the Blue Bombers in 2019. Gray was a late scratch to the Bombers' Grey Cup game day roster, but was a solid contributor in 13 regular season games and two playoff games for Winnipeg on the offensive line.

Miles finished his sixth CFL season with the Blue Bombers in 2019. The Winnipeg native played in all 18 regular season games and had eight solo tackles. In Sunday's Grey Cup, Miles made a key play on special teams — securing a short Hamilton punt and returning it six yards.
