Bisons fourth-year swimmer Kelsey Wog completed her 2019 FINA World Aquatics Championships on Thursday evening, finishing 6th in the 200-metre breaststroke in her first Worlds final with Team Canada. Earlier this week, the Winnipeg native finished 15th overall in the 200-metre individual medley after qualifying for the semifinals.
Wog's meet times at the FINA Championships are as follows:
200-metre breaststroke
Heats: 2:25.01 (T-5th, 0.48s back)
Semifinals: 2:24.17 (7th, 2.97s back)
Finals: 2:25.14 (6th, 4.97s back)
200-metre individual medley

This is Wog's second event with Team Canada's senior team following an appearance at the Pan Pacific Championships last summer. This summer's event showed her improve her personal best time in the 200-metre medley while continuing to be strong in the 200-metre breaststroke, as Wog ultimately prepares to seek a Team Canada qualification at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Wog is coming off her best U SPORTS competitive season to date, winning four gold medals at the 2019 U SPORTS Swimming Championships, earning First Team All-Canadian status and the Bisons Female Athlete of the Year. The Bisons' first event on the 2019-20 swimming schedule is the St. James Seals Invitational at Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg from October 12-13.
