Bisons women's hockey score two unanswered, beat Huskies 2-1

Ashley Keller scored the game-winner, her fourth goal of the season.

SASKATOON - The University of Manitoba Bisons women's hockey team picked up their second-straight win over the Saskatchewan Huskies with a 2-1 win on Saturday night at Merlis Belsher Place.

Two first-period goals for the Bisons were the difference, as despite Sophie Lalor's best efforts to bring the Huskies back, the comeback fell short.

Ashley Keller and Samantha Sichkaruk had the goals for Manitoba - their fourth and third of the season respectively.

Sophie Lalor scored the lone goal of the evening for the Huskies, which came at the 7:16 mark of the third.

Camryn Drever had 19 saves for Saskatchewan, who fell to 2-1-1 with the defeat - their first in regulation this season.

Manitoba moves into first-place in the Canada West with a win, now holding a 5-1-0 record this season, who went with Kimberley Davidson between the pipes on the second-night of the back-to-back and she recorded her first win of the season with a 29-save performance.

15 of those 29 came in the third period, with Saskatchewan outshooting Manitoba 15-3 in the final 20 minutes of play.

Saskatchewan next returns home on Nov. 19 and 20 for a pair of clashes against the Calgary Dinos.

Meanwhile, Manitoba is back on home ice next weekend, as they take on the Regina Cougars, as they look to build on their impressive start to the season.
