Bisons women battle but come up short in Saskatoon

Lauren Bartlett led a scrappy Manitoba team with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting.

SASKATOON —The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's basketball team remain undefeated after a 74-61 win over the visiting Manitoba Bisons on Friday night at the PAC.

Summer Masikewich finished with a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Libby Epoch had a complete stat line with 14 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds.

After a close first half, the Huskies were able to put the clamps on the Bisons offence in the final 20 minutes, holding Manitoba to four points in the third quarter and a total of 26 points in the second half.

"I think we showed our resilience last week against Regina in that overtime win. I believe so strongly in this group's ability to put together 40 minutes that I know we can push through the struggles in the first half," said fifth-year guard Libby Epoch.

Lauren Bartlett led the Bisons in scoring with 20 points. The second-year Winnipeg native went 8/15 from the field in 38 minutes of play.

The Huskies improve to 7-0 while the Bisons fall to 2-5 this season.

The rematch between the Huskies and Bisons will happen tomorrow night at 5 PM at the PAC. This will be the final game for both teams in 2021.
