ABBOTSFORD -- There's something special building this season with the men's basketball program, following a 92-53 win over UFV that propelled them to 4-0 for the first time since joining Canad West basketball. They are the only undefeated team left in the conference, and will take on 3-1 Regina on the road next weekend in a clash of two of the top teams in the nation.
Twelve different players scored for the Bisons in a game that was one-sided from the second period onward. The Herd outscored their opponent 25-8 during that time, including three emphatic dunks which broke the rim multiple times. Overall in the first half, the Bisons had 11 steals, four blocks and 15 fast break points, compared to just three for UFV.
Full court defence and assertive play in the paint on both ends helped tell the story for Manitoba.
Isaac Miller-Jose had six points, eight rebounds and two blocks in just 17 minutes of play, while
Elijah Lostracco, Simon Hildebrandt and
Mason Kraus combined for seven steals as the Bisons were able to rest their starters and showcase their depth in the second half.
Samuel Jensen had a career high 12 points, while
Cieran O'Hara added ten and Bolatito Obasoto,
Jonam Kazadi and
Daren Watts combined for 20 in the final 20 minutes of play.
