OKANAGAN -- Manitoba rallied one night after falling in a five-set thriller, sweeping the UBCO Heat 3-0 (25-16, 28-26, 25-19) on the road.
Eric Ogaranko had another consistent game, finishing with a team-high ten points, including nine kills, two assisted blocks and two digs. Setter
Jack Mandryk added 28 assists, and is just 72 shy of cracking into the top-20 in Canada West history.
The Bisons opened up an eight-point lead early and didn't trail the rest of the way in the first set. Ogaranko finished the set off with one of his nine kills. In the second set, Manitoba faced set point twice, as 24-23 and 25-24, but didn't fold. An assisted block from Nicoles Carter and
Jonah Dueck gave the Herd a 26-25 lead and they would eventually win the marathon set after two attack errors from UBCO.
Manitoba opened up a seven-point lead in the third, and cruised to the sweep. A
Ben Carleton kill and multiple Heat errors handed the visitors the match.
The Bisons are back at home this weekend against UBC.
