Bobcats sweep Bisons with back-to-back straight set wins

Manitoba will head to the Duckworth Centre for pool play hosted by the Winnipeg Wesmen.

BRANDON —Assured their playoff seeding, the Manitoba Bisons worked in some new faces on Saturday night in Brandon. The result was the same as Friday, though, as the Brandon Bobcats won in straight sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-23).

Finishing fourth in the Canada West east division, Manitoba will take the short trip downtown for first round pool play hosted by the Winnipeg Wesmen.

By winning in three, the Bobcats hurdle the Saskatchewan Huskies to finish second in the division. They'll be headed to Edmonton for pool play hosted by Alberta.

With Ben Carleton and Owen Schwartz getting the night off, Spencer Grahame had a starring role for the Bisons' offensive attack. The first-year led the Herd with 11 kills on 24 attacks, adding four blocks and five digs.

Fellow rookie Eric Ogaranko got his longest look of the season thus far opposite Grahame, tallying seven kills and five digs for Manitoba.

With plenty to play for, Brandon's Philipp Lauter was once again a tough man to stop. With 14 kills on a blistering .458 percentage, Lauter presented issues for the Bisons defence. Tom Friesen added nine kills for the Bobcats.
