Bisons football announce commitment of program-changing linemen Lamar Goods, Sean Rowe

Goods previously played for the Florida Gators in the NCAA, Rowe was the Division 1 Most Outstanding Player for Dakota, and had 15 post-secondary offers.

WINNIPEG -- The Manitoba Bisons football team are pleased to announce the commitment of program-changing linemen Lamar Goods and Sean Rowe.

Goods is a 6'4", 290-pound interior defensive lineman who previously played NCAA Division 1 football for the Florida Gators, a power five school. A native of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Goods made Team Canada's U-18 national team as a 16-year-old in 2018, helping the team to a 44-26 win in the International Bowl, where he also had an interception.

He then moved to Connecticut for the fall of 2018, where he finished his high school career at St. Thomas More. Goods was a four-star recruit, and had 11 Division 1 offers, including Georgia and Kentucky.

"All credit to defensive line coach Shaq Armstrong on this one," said Bisons head coach Brian Dobie, noting that Armstrong is Goods' cousin.

"He had a great relationship with Lamar for years. It's almost like Lamar is coming home. His body and the way he can push the pocket is outstanding. Against the run, he is perfectly suited for defensive coordinator Stan Pierre's defence."

Added recruiting coordinator Sean Oleksewycz: "Lamar is a true game-changer from the interior d-line position. He's an amazing talent and body that will be on the roster day one. It's not often that a power five, four-star player picks your school to attend. We are so excited to get Lamar on campus and get working."

Rowe is a 6'5", 310-pound offensive lineman who played for Dakota Collegiate. A Winnipeg High School Football League Division 1 All-Star, Rowe helped the Lancers to their best-ever Division 1 finish, where the team advanced to the ANAVETS Bowl.

Rowe, who played tackle, paved the way for a Lancers rushing attack that led Division 1 with 1,241 yards. He received the league's Lineman of the Year award and became the first lineman in WHSFL history to be named the Bomber Alumni Most Outstanding Player. Rowe had 15 post-secondary offers, but chose to stay local.

"In all my years, he is simply one of the best WHSFL football players I have seen," said Dobie. "It's also beneficial that he plays left tackle. He could go down as a Bisons great and moves so well for a 17-year-old of that size and weight."

Added Oleksewycz: "He's probably the most outstanding high school player in Manitoba. He can be a day-one starter as a freshman, just an unbelievable talent. We simply could not let this guy get out of the province. He and his family have been a joy to get to know."
