REGINA -- After allowing the first goal 11 minutes in, the Manitoba Bisons stormed back on Saturday night on the road against Regina, scoring five unanswered in a 5-1 win. The victory improves Manitoba's record to 8-10. They're five points back of Trinity Western for the final playoff spot and will play Mount Royal at home next weekend.
Vanessa Klimpke scored her first two goals of the season in the win, while Patrick's four points were a career high as she doubled her point total to eight.
Molly Kunnas got the Bisons on the board late in the first period to tie the game, after an extended shift in the offensive zone. She received a pass from down low from Patrick and blasted a no-doubter for her fifth goal of the season.
Patrick's eventual game-winner came 45 seconds into a Manitoba power play in the second, as she jammed home a loose puck in the crease with all kind of chaos around her. Klimpke added insurance seven minutes later on the power play, tapping in a rebound from the side of the net.
Patrick completed a three-goal second period with just over five minutes to go, after stealing the puck in the offensive zone. She dispossed the biscuit from between the legs of a Cougars defender and took advantage of a screen from
Kate Gregoire for her second of the evening. Klimpke added her second with nine minutes to go to round out the scoring.
