Eric Alarie

Men's Hockey Press Release

Equipped with pro experience, men's hockey announce signing of proven scorer Eric Alarie

"Eric possesses an incredible shot that we believe will enable him to put the puck in the net at the Usports level," said head coach Gordon Burnett.

The Bisons men's hockey program continued to add to a loaded recruiting class on Thursday, as local product Eric Alarie announced his commitment to the Herd.

The 6'2", 210-pound Alarie will immediately boost the Herd's offensive depth, with a proven history as a scorer.

Since 2019-20, Alarie has recorded 79 goals, including 25 in 2021-22 with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors. Bisons head coach Gordon Burnett was part of the Warriors' staff from 2020-23 during Alarie's time in Saskatchewan, and the 2024-25 season will mark a reunion for the two.

"Eric is a player that I had the pleasure of coaching in junior hockey and we are excited to have the opportunity to coach him again as a student athlete with the Bisons," said Burnett. "Eric possesses an incredible shot that we believe will enable him to put the puck in the net at the Usports level."

Alarie recorded 148 regular season points from 2019-24 for Moose Jaw, adding 39 points in 60 games for the Seattle Thunderbirds following an early season trade this past year. Overall, he brings 295 games of WHL experience to the Bisons.

Additionally, Alarie is coming off his first pro stint, recording three points in eight games for the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL.

"I'm excited to join the Bisons program. This is a great opportunity for me to continue my education at the university level while also being able to compete on the ice," he said.

"I'm looking forward to continued success both on and off the ice, alongside my teammates and I expect big things for us as a team."
