A total of 144 Bisons student-athletes were acknowledged as Academic All-Canadians this week (grades applicable during the 2024-25 academic year). It's the 11th straight year that at least 100 UM student-athletes have been named AACs, and the fifth time in the last six years that over 140 have been recognized as AACs.
Overall, 44.9 percent of the Herd's student-athletes were named AACs, the fourth-highest total in school history.
Since 1990, Academic All-Canadian status (achieved by having an academic standing of 80% or better while playing on one of their university's varsity teams) has been earned a total of 2,826 times (including golf) by various Bisons.
Among the group were 35 different Bisons who received AAC status from anywhere between three to six different years. A total of eight student-athletes were named six-year AACs, while ten were named five-year AACs.
Additionally, 49 different Bisons received their Block M sweater, a special honour given to those who have spent at least three years competing for the University of Manitoba.
