Needing a series sweep and some help from MacEwan, Manitoba welcomes Alberta to town with lots at stake. On Saturday, the team will also honour seniors
Andre Sutter,
Evan Toth and
Hayden Ostir.Â
The Bisons, winners of three in a row, enter play with 16 points, five shy of MacEwan for the final playoff spot in Canada West's East Division. They need a series sweep and a collection of losses from GMU to reach the post-season.Â
The journey starts Friday, and the Herd will lean on their top six forwards, who have been on a tear as of late.Â
Captain
Jonny Hooker, along with former All-Canadian
Riley Stotts, and rookies
Skyler Bruce and
Dawson Pasternak all have 12 points in the month of January. Pasternak has been particuarly impressive, recording 13 points in ten games since coming back from a career-threatening injury incurred during his playing days in the WHL.Â
Hooker, part of a lethal Bisons powerplay that's operating at over 30 percent, leads the nation with 14 power play goals, which is tied for the school record.Â
Meanwhile in net, rookie stalwart
Braden Holt is second in Canada West, with 615 saves, and he's coming off his first career shutout last Saturday against Regina.Â
