The Bisons men's hockey program added two more key pieces on Wednesday, announcing the commitment of forward Joel Purdom and defenceman Kaycee Coyle.Â
Purdom, a 6'0", 185-pound Winnipeg native, has BCHL and MJHL experience. He was the recipient of the Selkirk Steelers' Most Inspirational Player award in 2024, amassing 69 points over two seasons. This past year, he contributed 21 points over 51 games in the BCHL with Powell River and Sherwood Park.Â
"Joel is known for his competitiveness and faceoff abilities," said Bisons head coach Gordon Burnett. "He was captain for his team in Powell River and we are excited to add him to our team."
Coyle is a 5'11", 183-pound defenceman from Oakbank. He was MVP and Defenceman of the Year in 2023-24 for the MJHL's Niverville Nighthawks, contributing 75 points overall three seasons between Niverville, Salmon Arm (BCHL) and Fairbanks (NAHL).Â
"Kaycee is a former NCAA Division 1 commit to Tennessee State, and is a coveted right-handed defenceman who loves to join the rush offensively," said Burnett. "He will be a key piece for us this season."
