WINNIPEG – The Saskatchewan Huskies capitalized on two of their three corner kicks on Friday night, scoring their opening goal and third goal on set pieces in a 3-1 win over Manitoba.
The two sides combined for 16 shots on goal in a match that was evenly balanced all throughout. The win improved Saskatchewan's record to 3-4, while Manitoba fell to 0-6-1.
Both teams played a strong possession game in first half with quality opportunities on each end, combining for ten shots.
Bianca Cavalcanti sprinted into the area for an opportunity five minutes into play, surging past the Huskies back line, however her shot from five yards out was stopped by Kalin Roberts.
Nine minutes later, the visitors struck for the opening goal. Nammi Nguyen placed an accurate ball on net off a corner kick, which went off the post and right to Danielle Lehmann, who blasted it home for her fourth goal of the season.

th, Saskatchewan nearly struck again. Alyssa D'Agnone earned possession and had a quality look from ten yards out, but Bisons goalie
Holly Dyker dove to her left for a fantastic save, one of three in the first half.
Saskatchewan added to their lead early in the second half. Substitute Cassidy Vieira sprung Isabelle Lachance, who raced to the ball from 20 yards out, finding the far post for a 2-0 Huskies lead.
A corner in the 73
rd resulted in Saskatchewan's third goal of the game. Daraida Sutherland's looping attempt skipped past everyone and into the far corner on a favorable bounce for the visitors.
The Herd continued to fight and were rewarded in the 82
nd. Alex Paul stole the ball away in her own end, sprinting all the way to the 20 yard line of Saskatchewan. With time and space, she made no mistake, finding the far corner for her first goal of the season.
"I kind of channeled my inner midfielder," said Paul on the goal. "I just took my space. I saw a little opening in the back corner and I was like, I'm just going to take it. It worked out."
Both teams play again tomorrow at 7 pm.
