Bisons place sixth at Canada West Golf Championships, Neill finishes tied for seventh

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Manitoba Bisons maintained their position in the standings on the final day of the 2026 Canada West Golf Championships, finishing sixth overall after two rounds at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort in Lethbridge, Alta.

After opening the tournament with a team score of 18-over 302 on Monday, the Bisons improved by seven strokes in the final round, carding a 11-over 295 to finish at 29-over 597.

UBC captured the team title at 2-over 570, thanks to a tournament-best second-round score of 8-under 276. UBC Okanagan placed second at 10-over 578, followed by Victoria at 14-over 582. Alberta finished fourth at 20-over 588, while Calgary rounded out the top five at 26-over 594.

Manitoba's top performer was reigning Canada West silver medalist Rory Neill. After beginning the final round tied for third, Neill posted a 2-over 73 to finish tied for seventh overall at 2-over 144. His top-10 result marked the best finish by a Bison at this year's championship.

Terence Rafferty made a strong move up the leaderboard on Tuesday, improving by five shots from his opening-round 76 with a 1-over 71. The second-round effort vaulted him into a tie for 14th at 5-over 147.

Ryan Blair also finished inside the top 20, following his opening-round 75 with a 74 to place tied for 16th at 7-over 149.

Jack Rudick shaved three strokes off his first-round score, carding a 77 on Tuesday to finish 35th at 15-over 157. Ryder Pufahl closed with an 82 in the second round and finished tied for 44th overall at 28-over 170.

The individual championship was won by Alberta's Kai Baerg, who followed an opening-round 69 with a tournament-best 4-under 67 to finish at 6-under 136. Victoria's Owen Croft placed second at 5-under 137, while UBC's Aneesh Kaura, the overnight leader, finished third at 4-under 138.

Neill's tie for seventh placed him among the championship's top performers and helped lead Manitoba to its sixth-place team finish in a competitive nine-team field.
